IAJES

IAJES.org

We redesigned the IAJES website into an interactive hub for discovering members and collaborating across Jesuit engineering schools worldwide. Built with React and Supabase, it’s accessible, maintainable, and scalable.

Early May, my team and I presented our Senior Design project at the Santa Clara University School of Engineering's 2026 Senior Design Conference. During the summer of 2026, the final website went live at iajes.org.

Over the past year, Isabelle Hu, Anisha Malani, Justin Fan, and I worked with IAJES -- the International Association of Jesuit Engineering and Science Schools -- to redesign their static Google Site into a dynamic member database and information archive.

Since the summer of 2025, our team talked consistently with our clients: Carlos Rivas and Raul Garcia-Huerta, the President and (former) Vice President of IAJES. We established their goals for the website, expanded their brand's design language, and engaged in a cycle of receiving feedback and proposing revisions during weekly meetings.

From them, we learned what would become our website's 3 core features:

• As an organization that connects 60+ universities worldwide to form research groups and task forces, our website makes communication between their members easy, stores member data safely, and allows long-term growth of their network.
• IAJES also periodically publishes resources, such as videos, webinars, and international and regional conferences. To archive this knowledge for the world, we included multiple highly connective pages where content can be modularly added, edited, and removed without sacrificing design quality.
• To accommodate administrators who are not familiar with modern web code, our website uses familiar Google Sites text inputs and file uploads within the site itself. All done without touching the code. If code does need to be edited, we made sure to keep it organized, following best practices for web development.

After presenting our project to IAJES' governing board, we received official approval for launch during their July 2026 international conference. Until then, our team refined our project before fully going live, focusing on implementing future features such as a full newsletter editing & publishing system, an admin dashboard for easy role management of members, and full integration with IAJES' existing database.

Thank you to my teammates Isabelle Hu, Anisha Malani, and Justin Fan for an incredible year of dedication. Thank you to Dr. Silvia Figueira for advising our team, and providing invaluable guidance and support. Also, thank you to Allan A. Báez Morales for being our co-advisor through the SCU Frugal Innovation Hub, and for providing hosting accommodations for our demo.
And a huge thank you to Carlos and Raúl for their constant feedback and trust throughout the process!
