COMM 30
Digital Filmmaking

In my Communications 30 class, I worked with 3 teammates, (Gabriel Symkowick, Dominic Jordan, and JJ Xu) to produce a short film about a man who is kidnapped and held hostage, and is forced by the kidnapper to call his dad to pay the kidnapper's ransom.

During the planning phase, our team brainstormed a general outline, wrote up a story treatment (summary), a storyboard was developed (images, dialogue, and notes by me) and a shotlist created. This project was fully filmed in one day on Nov. 17th, 2023, and edited by myself in AVID Media Composer on Nov. 27th and Dec. 1st. (Other team members edited their own cuts of the film, although my version was shown to be showcased during the final exam.)

This film was also selected to be a part of SCU's 12th Annual Genesis Film Showcase (June 12th, 2024). This event was sponsored by the SCU Communication Department and advertised as "a showcase of outstanding student films produced over the past academic year". Each film selected was also given an award! As this occurred during the final exam week, I was unable to go, but our group was truly honored to be selected.
